1. History of Novembertagung
The Novembertagung, international colloquium meant for PhD and post-doc students in History of mathematics, has a long and profitable tradition and involved tens of young researchers, from Europe, America and emerging countries. It was established in 1990 at Wuppertal (organisers: T. Hochkirchen, U. Guntermann) and from then on it take place every year in a European city (Wuppertal 1990, 2012, Berlin 1991, Utrecht 1992, Mainz 1993, 2010, Dresden 1994, Hamburg 1995, Heidelberg 1996, Paderborn 1997, Nijmegen 1998, Holbæk 1999, 2008, Brno 2000, Nancy 2001, Frankfurt am Main 2002, Wien 2003, Utrecht 2004, Paris 2005, 2011, Edinburgh 2006, Bonn 2007, Twente 2009, London 2013, Nancy 2014). More on the subject can be found on the website http://www.henrikkragh.dk/novembertagung/history.html.
The event involved local authorities for research in Mathematics, History of Mathematics and History of sciences, and expert speakers invited for plenary talks (Henk J. M. Bos, Norbert Schappacher, Leo Corry, Jesper Lützen, Kirsti Andersen, Philippe Nabonnand, etc).
Most of the meetings had a main theme, for example Relationships between Mathematics and other cultural branches (1994), How can the Philosophy of Mathematics contribute to the History of Mathematics? (1999), Mathematics and culture (2000), Tools and Objects in Mathematics (2001), Disciplinary boundaries and disciplinary intersections (2002), Mathematical practice and development throughout history (2007), What can we learn from the history of mathematics? (2008), Collectives in mathematical practice (2011).
For the Novembertagung which will take place in Turin the theme established is Transfer of mathematical knowledge in journals, correspondence and scientific societies.

2. Colloquium’s description
The Novembertagung’s participants are free to submit a talk in English (official language), by filling in the Registration form and sending the title within July, 30th. A short abstract of the talk should be submitted within September, 30th to chiara.pizzarelli@unito.it
The aim of the interventions is to present ongoing research, underlying the used historiographical methods and the difficulties encountered during the research, the draft of the PhD thesis’s chapters, etc. At the end of each talk and sessions (morning and afternoon) a debate will be held.
Two invited speakers will hold introductive lectures, and, in addition to the PhD students talks, two senior researchers (E. Luciano and A. Cogliati) and participants of the previous Novembertagung will hold the final ones. The last debate will focus on the making of a general evaluation of the colloquium and on the choosing of the possible cities for the following colloquium.
The methodological comparison, the complementarity of research topics, and the opportunity of direct contacts and dialogues with expert historians in the field are the main characteristics of the event. The colloquium has an important role for PhD and post-doc students who are setting up their historiographical work, refining the results submitted to critique and writing down the thesis.

3. The Novembertagung in Turin
During the final debate of the Novembertagung in Nancy (19th-21th November 2014), the city of Turin has been suggested to host this initiative in 2015. For the first time Italy will be involved in this event that promote the work of young researchers in History of Mathematics. The University of Turin, in particular, has been chosen for the favourable geographical position and for the presence of a group of researchers, historians of mathematics.
The event will take place from 26th to 28th November. The participants will be invited to visit on Saturday 28th the Royal Library, the Archives for the history of Turin University (free) and the Egyptian Museum (11€).
